Welcome to CervicalCheck - The National Cervical Screening Programme

CervicalCheck - The National Cervical Screening Programme provides free smear tests to women aged 25 to 60. A smear test is a simple procedure that only takes minutes and is the most effective way to detect changes in the cells of the cervix.
CervicalCheck has developed a register (list) of eligible women nationwide aged 25 to 60 through up-to-date information received from the Department of Social Protection and self registration of women. You can make sure you are on this list in the 'Check Your Registration/Eligibility' section of this site. CervicalCheck will send an invitation for a free smear test by post to all women on this list. With an invitation letter, women can have a free smear test with any smeartaker (GPor Practice Nurse) that is registered with CervicalCheck. Over 4,150 GPs, Women's Health, Family Planning and Well Woman Clinics all over Ireland are registered to take smear tests.
Women who have already availed of a CervicalCheck smear test since the start of the Programme on 1 September 2008 will be automatically re-called when their next smear test is due.
What if I have not had a smear test in the last three years?
Any woman who has not had a smear test in the last three years can opt-in and request an invitation letter from CervicalCheck by registering online or completing and returning a Freepost self-registration form (see the Publications and Information Leaflets section) or by calling CervicalCheck on Freephone 1800 45 45 55.
