Guide for Smeartakers
A comprehensive and invaluable guide explaining the cervical screening process has been developed into a PDF version and can be downloaded by clicking the links below. A copy of the Guide for Smeartakers has been sent to every registered CervicalCheck smeartaker. A Simple Guide to the Language Used in Cervical Screening
This simple guide to the language used in cervical screening has been developed to support CervicalCheck smeartakers in the primary care setting. Having a smear test can be an anxious time for a woman and it is important that smeartakers clearly explain the process and clinical results using simple language that is easy to understand.
Smeartaker training courses and 2009-2010 training prospectus
CervicalCheck - The National Cervical Screening Programme is committed to ensuring that all doctors and nurses undertaking cervical screening are competent in all aspects of smeartaking. CervicalCheck will provide smeartaker training and facilitate doctors and nurses starting out in practice and those who are already taking smears regularly. The Smeartaker Training Unit has compiled a list of references and further reading for those taking part in smeartaker training programmes. Please click here for details.
Smeartaker Training Prospectus
The Smeartaker Training Unit produces a yearly training prospectus, outlining details of available courses and course contents. Please click on the link below to download a copy of the Smeartaker Training Prospectus 2009-2010.

Programme for clinical updates for smeartakers 2010
CME accredited clinical update sessions are developed to increase the knowledge and skills of registered smeartakers in CervicalCheck.
These meetings provide an overview of how CervicalCheck operates and will promote current best practice in the taking and management of quality smears. Topics include:
