Health professionals taking part in CervicalCheck can access training and learning resources.

These include:

Training courses

Accredited training is available through the Screening Training Unit of the National Screening Service (NSS).

Training courses are provided in partnership with:

  • Irish College of General Practitioners
  • Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (Nursing Faculty)
  • University College Cork
  • National University of Ireland Galway

The training is in line with the recommendations of the NSS Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Cervical Screening.

Apply for training

To apply for a training course you must complete the:

Places on courses are limited. Early application is advised.

Training for GP trainees

GP trainees can avail of certified training.

A GP trainee resource pack is available. Training is delivered through the GP Training Scheme.

To earn the certification, GP trainees must complete:

  • the GP trainee application form
  • 2 theory sessions specified in the GP trainee resource pack
  • a clinical audit with a CervicalCheck clinical trainer

GP Training Schemes will deliver the 2 theory sessions. The scheme must certify that the trainee has completed the theory component. Evidence of dates must also be given.

The Screening Service online e-learning portal includes:

  • guides for practice management tools systems
  • educational resources for health professionals

The online e-learning portal enables you to advance your knowledge and skills. You can do this in your own time.
